Usage and limits
How archive storage and database storage are measured, what happens past an allowance, and how to cap it.
Usage measures two different allowances. Confusing them is the most common reason a bill surprises someone, so it is worth separating them before anything else.
Two allowances, not one

Captured record versions and access log entries compete for the same gigabytes. Widening access log retention can fill the database allowance without capturing a single extra record.
Database storage is counted across environments, not per environment, so a second environment does not come with a second allowance.
Reading the meters
The archive storage panel reports the amount used against the plan, as a percentage, with the file count, version count, connectors in use, and when the figure was last measured underneath.
The database storage panel reports the same shape for the database allowance, and states how many environments it spans.
Forecast
The forecast projects the current rate forward: measured over the last 90 days and projected 60 days ahead, at the daily rate it observed. When the projection crosses the plan limit, the page says so in days, and a banner appears at the top of Usage.
It extrapolates the last 90 days. A backfill, a new connection or a bulk import changes the rate, and the projection with it.
Budget limits
Budget limits are volumes of your own to stay under, separate from the plan limits. There are two, one per allowance, and both can be left empty for no budget limit.
Capture does not stop at an allowance on its own. Past the allowance the extra is billed. Set a limit only if you would rather capture stopped than be billed for the overage.
What overage costs
These are the terms the application states on the Usage page.
Archive storage. The plan carries its published amount. Past that, archiving continues for 14 days, after which extra storage is preallocated and billed monthly, at a lower rate on an annual plan. Charges are prorated, so a part month costs part of the rate.
Database storage. Past the allowance, database storage is billed per gigabyte per month, also prorated.
Rates shown in the application are the ones it bills against. If a quote or contract of yours states something different, the agreement is what governs, not this page.

The foot of the page breaks usage down by environment, which is how you find out which one is consuming the shared database allowance.
